The inaugural list of HBCU mayors across the country mark an emphasis on bringing focus to the local level where decisions impact citizens lives on a day to day basis and are felt far more immediate than at the state or federal level. All of these mayors oversee cities that have a minimum of 30,000 population and are part of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. This year’s list includes 15 HBCUs present with Howard University’s four mayors leading the way for the most by one HBCU.
